Australian outdoor apparel retailer Mountain Designs has released a collection designed to prevent body odour.

Using Polygeine technology the range of mens and womens shirts, pants and underwear have been treated to kill bacterial build up that causes sweat to smell.

The technology reportedly uses silver salt, a natural substance found in soil and water.

The retailer also said that the silver used to generate the technology has been derived from discarded electronics and has undergone extensive sensitivity testing to ensure it does not interfere with natural bacteria formed on the skin.

Mountain Designs general manager Caroline Machado Campos believes the brand has made a huge breakthrough in sustainability.

“It is the bacteria it generates on clothes that triggers body odour.

“The Polygiene treatment stops that bacteria which stops the odour.

“Washing and drying accounts for two thirds of the environmental impact of a product.

“Polygiene means you can wear more, wash less and help protect the environment.

“Because the Polygiene technology is bound into the fabric, the treatment will never wash out of the clothes.

"In fact, it will outlast the life of the garment.”

The collection is now available to purchase with price points generally ranging from $19.95-$49.95.
