RCG Corporation Limited, owner of footwear retailers The Athlete's Foot and the Super Shoestore, has appointed a new chief executive officer.
Since restructuring six years ago, management of the business has been conducted by three executive directors, who together have fulfilled the role of CEO, all reporting to executive chairman, Ivan Hammerschlag.
However, the company board has now selected executive director Hilton Brett as its new CEO.
Hilton has most recently been responsible for the development, growth and operations of RCG's wholesale business.
Hammerschlag said he will continue in the role of non-executive chairman and will continue to retain his stake in the company.
“The business has now grown to a point where it needs the dedicated attention of a full-time CEO who is accountable to a board led by a non-executive chairman,” he said.
Hilton is the ideal person for the job. Not only has he been fulfilling many of the functions of CEO with great success for some time, but he has a long track record of delivering outstanding outcomes in challenging times. It is for this reason that he was the board's unanimous first choice as CEO.”
Commenting on his appointment, Brett said he is looking forward to the challenges that lie ahead.
“RCG is currently working on a number of compelling opportunities and projects, all of which will deliver long-term value for the company. I am fully committed to ensuring that resources are properly allocated to maximise the outcomes for all stakeholders, including our shareholders, franchisees and employees.”
Executive directors Michael Hirschowitz and Michael Cooper will now report directly to Brett rather than toHammerschlag, but there roles will remain unchanged.
