Rag & Bone has opened its first Sydney store in Westfield Bondi Junction.

The Sydney location marks the continued expansion of the brand's retail footprint in Australia, following two openings in Melbourne since 2016.

Rag & Bone's founder and chief brand officer Marcus Wainwright spoke to ragtrader.com.au about the continued Australian expansion and the decision to open up shop in Bondi Junction.

“Bondi is an opportunity for Rag & Bone to have a stronger representation of the brand in Australia, not only in how we're innovating our store environments, but also within the expanded range of product that will be available at this location.”

The store will house both women's and men's ready-to-wear, denim, accessories, footwear and fragrance collections.

Wainwright said that the brand has already had a great start in Melbourne but it will wait to see how it continues to grow in Australia before making its next move.

“We will continue to see how customer base grows in Australia.

“Melbourne was a great start and we're looking forward to creating our new home in Sydney.

“We have had a great reception in Melbourne from both the local and international customer.

“It's been particularly exciting to connect with new communities, especially where our commitment to authenticity and quality have resonated.”

The New York label has seen great success with not only its denim but also footwear, leather and high demand for its menswear offering in Australia.

“Denim is one of the strongest categories in terms of performance and brand recognition.

“Our tailoring has shown to perform well.

“Footwear and leather goods have a very loyal client base and are standout categories with a lot of growth potential within the market.

“There's a real demand for our menswear, where we've seen our iconic pieces like chinos and knitwear attract a regular customer.

“There's a versatility and functionality in the collection that gives the customer the ability to choose what works for their wardrobe.

“Taking something well-made and making it personal is a Rag & Bone signature.”
