Australian accessories label From St Xavier has announced a new handbag collection created exclusively for The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
The collection comprises three clutch designs, which draw inspiration from the museum's Crown of the Andes and a vintage 19th century wallpaper fragment.
It will be sold at The Met and online in celebration of the exhibition 'Jewelry: The Body Transformed'.
The Met's general manager for merchandising and sourcing Marissa Harvey welcomed the collaboration as it promotes responsible design.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with From St Xavier on this exclusive line of handmade bags which reinterpret works in The Met collection in exquisite beaded detail.
“Designed in Australia, handmade in India, and sold in New York – this collection is intended as to spark conversation around the future of responsible design.
“We look forward to continuing to collaborate with this inspiring company in the spring and beyond.”
From St Xavier's CEO Michael Shandler said that the partnership is fitting for the brand.
“We are always on the pursuit for new partnerships, and this exclusive collaboration with The Metropolitan Museum of Art, inspired by The Met collection is especially fitting.
“We hope that both fans of The Met and our customers will welcome this exclusive range.”
