Net-A-Porter sold 2000 pairs of 'Nike x Sacai' sneakers within three hours of launching.

The Adidas x Khaite sneaker is one of its fastest selling exclusive styles to date.

And some of its best-selling brands in the sneaker category include Nike, Golden Goose, Adidas Original, Veja, Alexander McQueen, Gucci, Common Projects, Converse and Prada.

The statistics have been revealed as Net-A-Porter unleashes a new sneaker campaign featuring global influencers - with no Aussie names making the cut.

The Net-A-Porter campaign features 12 influencers showing how they wear sneakers in their everyday life.

These include names from Canada, USA, India, South Africa, Sweden, Korea and Japan.

Online sales and a booming sneaker market have driven Australian footwear industry revenue in recent times.

According to IBISWorld, revenue is expected to increase at an annualised 3.2% over the five years through 2018-19 to $3.5 billion.

Net-A-Porter global buying director Elizabeth von de Goltz said sneakers are integral to the business.

“The oversized ‘Dad’ sneaker has been dominating the street style scene for several seasons and the latest styles from Reebok x Victoria Beckham and newly launched brand Shoes 53045 will definitely keep this trend alive.

"In addition, this season we are seeing a strong return to cleaner silhouettes and retro styles - a sleeker option to pair back with elevated basics or a sharply tailored suit to give your look a cool and bold twist.

"Sneakers are an integral part of Net-A-Porter's buy and some of our favorite styles this season come with a refreshing and laid-back Californian vibe, from luxury brands Chloé and Isabel Marant or with feminine approach with designs from Converse x AMBUSH and Cecile Bahnsen x Sophie Bille Brahe."
