Myer has revealed key figures regarding its commitment to sustainability over the past year.

The company has reportedly achieved a 3% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, a 58% waste recycling rate and its total contribution to charity partners totalling $2.6 million.

Myer chairman Paul McClintock and CEO and managing director Richard Umbers believe that the figures reflect the company's heritage and part of its future as part of its 'New Myer' strategy.

"Myer has a proud heritage of community support, established originally by Sidney Myer, and we continue to give back to our local communities.

"Through the Myer Stores Community Fund, our customers, suppliers and team members support a large number of local charities and Myer national charity partners to make a real difference."

Around $1.6 million can be attributed to facilitated fundraising from customers, suppliers and team members.

Myer is aiming for an annual sales growth greater than 3% between 2016-2020 and greater than 20% improvement in sales per square metre.
