M Dreams, the home of Melissa shoes, is set to open at Melbourne Central this month.

The Brazilian plastic footwear brand has collaborated with iconic international designers including Karl Lagerfeld, Vivienne Westwood and most recently Jeremy Scott.

The opening is the first of three new stores to open nationally over the next six months.

Melbourne Central GM Leigh Dunn said the local retail landscape has experienced huge revitalisation since M Dreams' first concept store.

"M Dreams is arriving at an opportune time at Melbourne Central with the recent announcements of flagship stores and international brands and we are excited to welcome the new store."

Melissa shoes are made from a unique patented plastic material called MELFLEX©, which is a form of PVC that is both hypoallergenic and non toxic.

Melissa launched its original jelly sandal in 1979.

On the first day of trade at Melbourne Central, the brand will give away a complimentary pair of Sauce slides with every purchase over $150.
