Former Harper's Bazaar editor Kellie Hush and philanthropic director Kallie Blauhorn will join the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival (VAMFF) board of directors.

The festival is led by a board of directors that bring a broad range of expertise and leadership, including chairman David Briskin, deputy chairman Sue Lloyd-Williams, Tony Kendall, Paul Lappin, Launa Inman, Janice Breen Burns and Oliver Carton as company secretary.

CEO Graeme Lewsey is now in his eighth consecutive year in the role.

This announcement comes off the back of the most successful festival to date, which saw over 907 brands and creatives across the program (5% YOY increase) of 171 free and ticketed events.

It also attracted the highest out of state attendance on record being 17% of ticket holders and saw the average consumer retail spend up 6%.

It reached 389 million consumers via social media channels and recorded its highest net promoter score since the event's inception.

Briskin said the festival is honoured to welcome such well respected women from their various fields to the board of directors.

“Both Kellie and Kallie are inspiring leaders and bring a wealth of experience and knowledge.

“We're looking forward to their contribution and involvement in the program for years to come.”

An avid supporter of the festival during her seven-year tenure as Harper's Bazaar editor-in-chief, Hush said she wanted to remain involved with the festival and contribute to its future success and growth.

“I was fortunate that during my time at Harper's Bazaar, I had a very active role in supporting the festival.

“Seeing first-hand the dedication and passion that goes into making it not only the largest, but also one of the most enjoyable consumer fashion celebrations in the world, has been truly inspiring.”

Blauhorn has over 15 years' experience in the social sector though her work with international philanthropic and not-for-profit organisation.

Her previous work includes roles at Skoll Foundation, Very Special Kids, The United Nations Development Programme and most recently as the Director of the Monash Gallery of Art and Vice President of the National Gallery of Victoria Women's Association.

Her experience in these roles is expected to add value to the festival as it continues to expand into the arts and ideas sphere.

“To be recognised by my peers for my contribution to the industry is very inspiring. I'm very much looking forward to joining my fellow board members to make the upcoming festival one of the best yet.”
