Kathmandu has revealed details about its expansion plans for North America, appointing Bill Chandler as vice president of sales and marketing for North America.

The outdoor retailer also revealed that its North America branch will debuts its line at the Outdoor Retailer Show in Colorado from November 8. The group's North America operations will be headquartered in Bozeman, Montana.

The details about the US expansion follows on from the group's purchase of US-based footwear brand Oboz in March.

Chandler will report to Kathmandu North America president and OBOZ CEO John Connelly and will start in mid-July.

In a statement, Connelly said the brand would look to drive customer relationships and sustainable growth as the focus of its North American expansion.

“We are extremely pleased and excited to have Bill join our team in Bozeman and we look forward to introducing the Kathmandu brand to the US outdoor specialty market.

“We share the same values and business philosophy for creating authentic brands, controlling distribution, growing sustainably and focusing on the best possible relationships with our retail customers.

Chandler stated that he looked forward to bringing the story and products of Kathmandu to a new market.

“Kathmandu is a very exciting new challenge for me and it is also an incredible opportunity to bring the unique story and products of this very successful New Zealand brand to our market.”
