Kiaya Daniels is one of six fashion graduates selected to take part in The Innovators show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia 2014.

This is how she describes her major collection:

The collection originally evolved from the life and works of artist, Romaine Brooks.

The collection merges clean tailoring with relaxed sport wear, so takes technical elements from both.

Superfine wool suiting is very strong throughout the range, but you will also see a lot of white shirting, alongside nylons and leathers.

Silhouettes and cuts are classic, whist colours are minimal and prints are graphic.

Tailored design details run throughout the collection.

Once I started, the collection sort of built itself.

With every piece I would complete, I would have the basis for another design.

There are a lot of hybrid pieces in the collection, so it was often almost like a cut and paste patternmaking exercise.

I spent about about a year working full time as a men's tailor in Melbourne in 2012.

I could have never imagined that this experience would have such an impact on my approach to design.

But, it did! Amongst all I learnt, my eyes were opened up to the real importance or wearability, functionality and fit.
