Cue has harnessed its local manufacturing capability for a worthy new cause.
It will produce personal protective equipment (PPE) for frontline workers at St Vincent’s Hospital.
In a statement to its channels, the family-owned retailer revealed it would address a shortage of vital garments.
“St Vincent’s Hospitals provide their staff with fresh, clean scrubs each day.
“Never before have they had to be concerned about the ongoing availability of scrubs, masks and gloves to ensure they continue to provide their staff with all the essential protection they need.
“But as we all know, the COVID-19 pandemic is creating challenges that none of us have ever faced before.
“St Vincent’s are leading the charge in testing for COVID-19 and have recently set up mobile testing in areas of community outbreak, such as Bondi.
“We are leveraging our local manufacturing capability to produce #ScrubsForStVincents.”
Emergency doctor Dr Stephen Parnis called the lack of PPE the “number one concern” for Australian healthcare workers on Q&A yesterday.
Dr Parnis, former VP of the Australian Medical Association, revealed some workers had resorted to sourcing items from hardware stores or searching overseas.
Cue, which can normally produce clothes within three to five weeks via its sophisticated local manufacturing network, will join efforts to equip frontline workers at a critical time.
