New Zealand based natural performance apparel company Icebreaker has announced the opening of its new Queenstown store.

The new location on Ballarat Street, Queenstown is the first of their refreshed store design concepts and features environmentally conscious materials throughout.

Queenstown and the South Island are closely aligned with the Icebreaker story and the provenance and legacy of the brand.

In 1997, Icebreaker claimed it was the first company in the world to develop deep, long term relationships with merino growers.

Then in 2017, it signed the longest ever supply contract with growers, worth $100 million over 10 years.

It is believed to be the first agreement of its kind globally.

There are over 55 merino stations in the South Island providing wool for icebreaker garments, including Walter Peak and Mount Nicholas near Queenstown.

Icebreaker GM Scott McNab said the store is a natural fit for the brand.

“Our new store concept will enable us to present Icebreaker to customers as more than just clothing on racks and instead we can offer a truly memorable experience that those visiting Queenstown retain with them when they return home all over the world.

"I’m extremely excited and proud to have such a fantastic display of who we are in our spiritual home.”
