Harper's Bazaar has released its December issue in collaboration with Taronga Zoo.

The issue is devoted to the work Taronga Zoo and its newly established Taronga Institute of Science and Learning undertake in conservation.

Harper's Bazaar acting editor Eugenie Kelly said while the partnership was different to its usual, the magazine wanted to educate its readers on how the zoo is helping prevent extinction.

“These aren't the usual topics we tackle at Bazaar, but if we want future generations of Australians to grow up to the hum of cicadas and be able to paddle alongside dolphins during a morning surf, we need to do something to stop the extinctions affecting every inch of the planet.”

Gemma Ward fronts the issue in a shoot at Taronga's Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo.

It also introduces women at the forefront of Australia's conservation movement including veterinary pathologist Dr Karrie Rose, zoo and wildlife nutritionist Michelle Shaw and wildlife researcher and pathology coordinator Dr Phoebe Meagher.
