What will happen to G-Star Australia following its collapse into administration this year?

The international denim brand has announced that it will take over 15 of the existing stores in Australia.

The brand was previously operated by Denim Enterprises Pty Ltd before the company announced its demise into voluntary administration in February.

G-Star RAW president geographies and sales Stefano di Martino hopes that taking over the operations will continue to strengthen the brand's presence in the Australian market.

“G-Star and Australia have a special history together. Australia was one of the first international markets to embrace the brand. We have a strong and long relationship with the Australian consumer and we intend to continue to offer them great jeans.”

di Martino has also announced that the company will focus on expansion.

“With a local Australian-based G-Star team, we will invest in the best stores in key retail locations as well as in our current multi-brand partners who have passionately sustained our brand in the Australian market already for many years”.

At this stage no information about G-Star's Australian team or proposed store locations have been divulged.

G-Star RAW was founded in Amsterdam in 1989 and currently operates around 6500 points of sale worldwide. It has been present in Australia since 2002.
