The Perth Fashion Festival has unveiled its first naming rights sponsorship agreement, marking a major milestone in its history.

Perth Fashion Concepts Incorporated (PFCI) today confirmed that the Perth Fashion Festival has partnered with Telstra for its first naming rights sponsorship agreement.

PFCI and Perth Fashion Festival chairman Tracey Horton confirmed the sponsorship is part of a five-year agreement, which will commence prior to this year’s festival.

“At a time when the fashion industry is experiencing global challenges, this significant partnership with Telstra strengthens our ability to continue to produce a world-class fashion celebration which appropriately showcases the work of our talented Western Australian designers to national and international markets.

We are looking forward to working with the Telstra team to achieve new heights for both organisations,” she said.

The 2014 Telstra Perth Fashion Festival, which this year celebrates its 16th anniversary, will take place from 17 to 22 September later this year.

The festival is expected to provide around 30 world-class consumer events for a growing audience of fashion-savvy Western Australians and visitors to the state.

Perth Fashion Festival director Mariella Harvey-Hanrahan revealed that the sponsorship agreement with Telstra also marks an exciting new era for the festival complete with rebranding and a bright new logo.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Telstra who share our values of innovation, cutting edge style and commitment to fostering new talent in Australia,” Harvey-Hanrahan said.

“This new partnership with Telstra will enable us to come up with new and unique ways to promote the WA Fashion industry to a wider audience of consumers.”

Telstra area general manager Nicola Swarbrick added that Telstra’s sponsorship with the Perth Fashion Festival has “tremendous synergy on a number of different levels”.

“Telstra has a long tradition and a strong commitment in supporting Western Australian businesses, through our business awards program, and encouraging and assisting talented people to reach their full potential,” she said. “In creating this unique and beneficial partnership Telstra will be committing the power of technology to project the extraordinary talents of WA’s fashion industry to the world.”

Harvey-Hanrahan echoed these sentiments saying the partnership would greatly enhance the festival’s ability to reach a broader audience and open the door to regional areas as well as new global frontiers.

“Telstra’s extensive networks will not only help us build on our community-based initiatives in rural areas, but also expand our international presence, which already spans 15 countries,” she said.

“Our partnership with Telstra will be invaluable to spreading WA’s fashion story and that of its designers to the world.”

Swarbrick said the partnership also signals Telstra’s first foray into the fashion industry in WA.

“Both Telstra and the Perth Fashion Festivals hare a vision of a brilliantly connected future,” she said.

“Innovation, technology, creativity and the fashion industry go hand-in-hand. In recent years we have experienced new ways to connect with one another through the dramatic growth in the use of mobile devices ,an explosion in social media and a shift to e-commerce.

These changes in digital technology have created exciting new opportunities for us to showcase the Perth Fashion Festival,” she said.
