Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia organisers have ended speculation around dates and venues for the next instalment, announcing a triple-barrelled change for 2013.

IMG Fashion has shifted the event from a proposed window in March to run from April 8 to April 12.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia (MBFWA) will also be staged at cultural hub Carriageworks, positioned in the former Eveleigh rail yards in Sydney.

The move will coincide with the inclusion of a trade show element, with boutique showcase Premiere relocating to the site and running concurrently with the event.

The changes come after months of industry consultations with designers, media, agents, buyers and trade groups.

ragtrader.com.au can reveal over ten major venues were researched as alternatives to the existing site Overseas Passenger Terminal.

These included Hyde Park, Sydney Opera House steps, Darling Harbour Precinct, Moore Park Gardens and the MCA.

Organisers said a number of sites are undergoing developments, with few able to fit the event footprint or allow for an increased offering in future years.

It is understood in addition to the co-location of trade show Premiere, Carriageworks will see a number of new areas introduced for promotional on-site events.

The venue will also be fitted with digital platforms aimed at enhancing social media and live streaming options.

A number of off-site events will be staged to showcase the city, while it is understood the 5pm off-site option will be recalled in order to minimise delays.

The next instalment will mark the event's 18th year.
