David Jones has announced it will open the doors to its first international store, David Jones Wellington, on July 28.

This is the first David Jones store to open outside Australia, marking a significant moment in the department store’s 178-year history.

David Jones Wellington will feature the same design ethos that debuted at Eastland, Melbourne last year and has featured more recently at its new flagship store at Pacific Fair, Gold Coast.

The Eastland store features in-store click and collect pick-up stations, traffic analytics, free wi-fi, customer dwell areas with charging stations, omni-mirrors, and the ability to shop the full line David Jones offer online in-store.

David Jones COO David Thomas said the Wellington site will be a world class department store.

"We are well underway with the internal refurbishment of the beautiful building we will occupy on Lambton Quay and we look forward to opening a flagship store in the heart of New Zealand’s thriving capital, Wellington.

“Customers can expect an exciting mix of local and international brands in a premium environment with a comprehensive range of services. We are bringing a truly special retail experience to this cosmopolitan city.”

David Jones Wellington will operate across three floors offering a mix of fashion, beauty, accessories and home as well as house a premium cafe.

It plans to introduce a number of new brands to the market including popular international beauty brands Tom Ford and Benefit.
