Australian print artist and designer Cassie Byrnes has become the first Australian designer to collaborate with Uniqlo on a UT (Uniqlo t-shirt) collection.

Byrnes, who is renowned for her bold prints of native Australian flora and fauna, inspired by prehistoric Australia, has created brand new patterns and prints for the Uniqlo collaboration.

The bright prints have been translated from Byrnes' paintings into women's t-shirts, shorts and dresses, with key prints also appearing in girl's styles for matching moments.

"It has been an absolute honour to work with Uniqlo as the first Australian artist to work on a worldwide UT collection," Byrnes said of the partnership.

"The collection includes some of my favourite prints that have been developed throughout my design practice over the past six years as well as new prints created specifically for this collaboration," she said.

Key prints in the range include the Souvenir (pictured below), Lotte, Cosmos, Sugarbrush and Mesozoic Garden.

"My prints are deeply personal," Byrnes added.

"They each have their own story and have been created during different times in my life. Slowly becoming a journal I share with the world.

"I take my inspiration from the natural environment around me as well as extensive studies into the prehistoric landscape of Australia when it was part of Gondwana millions of years ago," she said.

The Uniqlo x Cassie Byrnes UT collection will be available online and in-store from September 30.
