Camilla has opened its 20th boutique at Sydney Domestic Airport.

Founder Camilla Franks said the Tented Temple concept marks the launch of a new travel pop-up format for the global brand.

“I’m excited to bring the colourful caravan of Camilla to Sydney’s doorstep, where we farewell our fellow gypsy travellers for another adventure.

"The Tented Temple echoes how we tour – we often arrive at an unknown place, with our cases, a few memories
in our pocket, a blank canvas of imagination, our cameras and a free spirit.

"We’ve pitched our tent at Sydney domestic airport, and everyone’s welcome to visit."

The new concept will act as a source of inspiration for future pop-ups around the world within leading retail partners.

These include Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue in New York, Harrods and Selfridges in London, as well as some premium worldwide hotels and other airport travel destinations.

The team of curators includes new partners for Camilla: Bernard Dooling Consulting and contemporary Australian design
studio E2, alongside Camilla's in-house creative and visual team.

The boutique is set under the brand’s iconic fretwork but constructed from a custom-made sail cloth fabric which has been hand-cut and fringed to reflect a gypsy tent.

Design elements feature a vintage wooden camel cart and antique suitcases imported from India.

Also displayed is a collection of driftwood from the Australian outback complemented by life-size animals including a giraffe and cheetah, inspired by Camilla's trip on an African safari in 2014.

Luxury furnishings include a custom-built counter inspired by a vintage leather suitcase from the 1950’s covered and lined with imported leather and hides.

In a corner of the boutique, a handpicked collection of some of Franks’ favourite travel pictures and artefacts collected over the years from India, Turkey, Africa and Mexico.

Franks also pays homage to her muse, Frida Kahlo with a video portrait framed in the front of the store.

Camilla CEO Jane McNally said the store also features India and Africa inspired dressing rooms.

“The redevelopment of the T3 terminal at Sydney’s domestic airport is an exciting journey association and is the perfect place to extend our adventurous spirit and lifestyle offering to our fellow travelers and tribe.

"Our brand is growing rapidly and with a 30% increase in sales globally, we now have a footprint for our popups that can be executed for our leading retail partners and pave the way for the opening of Camilla boutiques in international
markets."

The 70-square feet selling space will showcase the full Camilla lifestyle offering, which includes women’s, men’s, children’s, accessories, shoes, swimwear, home and special travel accessory edit.

Camilla now houses 20 owned boutiques in Australia, over 500 stockists globally and is available in 55 countries worldwide.
