Australian swimwear manufacturer Chillipop is under new management - with a vow to keep business onshore.

New owner Renae Jamieson was recently twice nominated Telstra Australian Business Woman Of The Year.

Jamieson said she is passionate about keeping manufacturing in Australia alive.

"I’ve done some topline numbers, manufacturing off shore can be risky with quality control, communications, turn around times, service and travel, it’s nearly the same cost, in some cases cheaper to make it right here at home."

Chillipop has been manufacturing swimwear for leading brands over the last 17 years, specialising in stretch fabrics.

The factory, based in Tweed Heads, New South Wales is poised for significant growth.

Since the take over on January 5, the business has retained and recruited some of the best people in the industry across all departments.

This includes patternmaking, sampling, cutting and production management.

"Getting the team right, training and providing the right conditions was my first priority," Jamieson said.

Systematic processes have also been upgraded, from pre-production preparation providing design, fabric, sublimation printing and hardware to complete production with strict quality control.
