Alice McCall has witnessed an 800% increase in digital sales from Chinese payment platforms Alipay and WeChat Pay during the lockdown. 

Catering to its second largest demographic of shoppers, the business introduced the payment platforms to its boutiques and website in recent months, and has seen a significant increase in the use of the payment services during the COVID-19 social isolation period.

Alice McCall head of digital and eCommerce Alan Thomas said that the payment platforms represent a new opportunity to retailers. 

"Customers are turning to internet shopping, opening up a new opportunity for online retailer.

"We have moved into a direction to enable Alipay and WeChat Pay to our physical stores, as well as online website, right before the shutdown.

"On top of payment, we also work with our partner on marketing initiatives to strengthen our communications with our Chinese customers," he said.
