Accent Group has announced that it will close all of its 420 stores for a period of four weeks from March 27.

Cue Clothing Co has followed suit, shutting down its Cue and Veronika Maine stores.

Sussan Group, operator of Sussan and Sportsgirl, has also announced the temporary closure of locations.

Accent Group CEO Daniel Agostinelli said that the business made the decision with the interests of the health of its staff at the forefront.

"It is with a heavy heart that we have made this decision, but we believe this to be in the best interests of the health and wellbeing of our team members.

"The Company intends to do everything possible to return the business to normal operations when environmental conditions normalise whilst always prioritising the safety and wellbeing of our team," he said.

Accent Group, which operates retail brands such as Hype, Platypus, Skechers and The Athletes Foot among others, will also stand down its retail employees and the majority of its support office team members without pay for that period.

During the stand down period employees will continue to accrue entitlements and may access their annual and long service leave entitlements.

Accent Group will continue to operate through its 18 websites and wholesale business.
