Uniqlo Australia has announced that it has donated 150,000 medical masks to the Australian Royal Flying Doctors Service (RFDS).

The initiative follows global action from Uniqlo’s parent company, Fast Retailing, who has rallied the support of its manufacturing partners to supply 10 million masks to high-priority medical facilities worldwide.

Providing Australians living in remote areas with much-needed healthcare, the medical masks for the RFDS will assist the team of 2,000 work safely towards flattening the curve of the COVID-19.

In addition to the masks, Uniqlo will also be giving every member of the RFDS team with an Ultra Light Down jacket, to help keep them warm while on the job as cooler temperatures set in.

In a statement, Uniqlo Australia said that it was of vital importance for the business to support those on the medical front line.

"With Uniqlo becoming part of the Australian retail landscape in 2014, it is of paramount importance to us that we are proactively supporting our local community wherever we can through this challenging situation.

"During this health crisis, we are very thankful and appreciative of the many Australians who are tirelessly providing care for those affected.

"We would like to give ongoing assistance to help those in the frontline carry out their vital role in overcoming COVID-19," the business said.

The Royal Flying Doctor Service is one of the largest and most comprehensive aeromedical organisations in the world, providing extensive primary health care and 24-hour emergency service to people over an area of 7.69 million square kilometres.
