Upparel has launched its first range of 50% recycled cotton sports socks.

Known for its sock recycling program that has since expanded to a large range of textiles, the new range of socks is the business' latest initiative to help offset the impacts of the fashion industry.

In the past six months, the Upparel community was able to save over 11,000kgs of socks from ending up in landfill through the business' textile recycling program.

"Socks are one of the biggest factors contributing to textile waste ending up in landfill," Upparel said in a statement.

"To help combat this alarming revelation, we launched the world’s first sock recycling program in 2019.

"This approach not only helped minimise our own footprint, but also provided an avenue for consumers decrease theirs.

"The new sock range is set to further offset the damages of the fashion industry and once again showcase the positive impacts of a circular fashion economy.

"The range highlights that comfort and durability can be created without compromising the environment," the business said.

The collection of recycled socks span men's, women's and kids across ankle, mid-crew and crew sock styles.

The range comes in a three or four pack and is available in black or white.

The recycled socks retail for between $33-$64 and are available on the Upparel website.
