The new innovative video app is gaining traction and helping consumers have even more fun on their phones. Could you be the first Australian retailer to tap into it? WGSN reports.

Currently, it feels like every week a new app is emerging in the app store, promising to help consumers do more, have fun, or make life easier.

The latest most-talked about app called KnowMe, is fresh out of New York, created by filmmaker Andrew Jarecki.

The app takes the fun and playful element of Snapchat, focusing on fun little videos that consumers can share with their friends, but what this offers is the opportunity to edit those videos, turning the consumer into a mini filmmaker.

Here’s three other reasons this app is one to watch:

1) A KnowMe video pulls in everything from your camera and video roll but it also allows you to bring in videos, images and music from anywhere around the Internet. This is an interesting step for the app, and it brings into question how original imagery will be credited, and for the consumer it opens up a whole world of footage opportunities.

2) Unlike the Instagram app that limits you to 15 seconds long, with this you can record longer videos. On KnowMe the footage can be anywhere from one second to three minutes. This longer time frame will make it easier for the app to team up with brands at a later stage too.

3) You can talk over any image on your phone (so that safari photo from last year’s vacation saved in your camera roll can now have added commentary). You can also edit as many clips together as you want and if you don’t like what you’ve done? You can rearrange the order on the go, add music and more, editing made easy.
