The group attempted to relaunch into the fashion sector this year through a $2 million investment deal with Mercury Brands. The investment deal failed to eventuate, with Mercury Brands entering receivership in mid-September before being snapped up by industry veteran Jeff Moss last week.
In an interview with Ragtrader Magazine, Reeks said Biron had "several" projects in the pipeline. The listed group has been suspended from trading since mid-2006, after the collapse of its Physico clothing brand and the sale of its Ed Harry menswear chain.
UPDATE 8/10/2009: George Karafotias has been appointed as director and company secretary of Biron, effective immediately. Biron Apparel could not comment on Karafotias' professional background by time of press.
