SYDNEY: UK retail giant Topshop is moving into Australia via a unique wholesale partnership with independent mixed-label designer boutique Incu.

Launching on October 29 in Incu's Paddington store, Topshop mainline, Kate Moss for Topshop, Topshop Unique and Topman will all be available, as well as accessories, bags and shoes.

Branded as Incu Presents Topshop, the venture will see the upstairs floor of the boutique dedicated to the brand. Downstairs, the Incu offering of labels including Paul Smith, Marc By Marc Jacobs and Acne will remain. Both floors are in the process of renovation to facilitate the new venture.

Topshop is a mecca for fast, trend forward fashion, with key stores in Oxford Circus London and New York. It is currently available to Australia via its online store.

Incu owners, brothers Brian and Vincent Wu said it was a challenge to bridge designer brands with a high street label, but believe the mix will succeed.

"It is a good way for us to introduce Incu to a younger customer. Incu is aspirational, so they might come in and buy a few Topshop pieces and think, I like that jacket in Incu, I'll save for that," said Brian Wu.

Topshop has entered similar partnerships with a handful of independent retailers around the world, including Collette in Paris, Laforet in Toyko and Opening Ceremony in New York.

Incu has three stores in Sydney and one in Melbourne, which stocks men's and women's designer labels from Australia and overseas. It also runs a wholesale and distribution business for fashion labels including Lyle & Scott, Zanerobe and Modern Amusement.
