SYDNEY: Thulie Ellis has chosen one of the busiest trading seasons of the year for the launch of her womenswear label ‘thulie’.

Ellis hopes to capitalise on the Christmas and New Year trading rush with the release of her debut 31-piece collection in December. This is the first commercial venture for the FBI fashion college graduate, with a handful of Sydney boutiques set to carry her inaugural offer.

Titled ‘Flashes on the silver screen’, it includes basics such as leggings and singlets from $120, skirts and shirts at $240 and dresses from $315 to $600. Each garment is crafted with local and imported silks, with highlight pieces including a mini sequined dress lined with 100 per cent silk organza ($489) and a silk ruffle collar jacket ($278) lined in silk satin. The label caters for sizes 6 to 14.

Ellis confirmed the range will be available for purchase online through www.thulie.swappler.com, where a made to order service will also be offered for bridal and special occasion clients.

“This gives our clients the opportunity to view the garment up close and personal and have that special garment tailored just for them,” Ellis said.

“While the collection may seem large for a debut range, it was really important to me to have pieces which could be mixed and matched as that is a big part of who I am personally and as a designer.”

Ellis is expected to wholesale her spring/summer 2010 collection early next year.
