Last night, the annual Young Essentials Project gala event saw students unveil capsule collections created specifically for Country Road, Sportsgirl and Target.
The long term project saw students presented with design briefs by the brands in Feburary. Students worked in teams to create unique designs for the retailers, which were judged by executives from the brands.
Target requested a plus size range for young women, a revamp of its in-house label Piping Hot and a new look collection for the youth market. Country Road requested a denim sub- brand for the youth market, while Sportsgirl wanted a party range and a rewind retro range.
Students created designs, mood boards, product development plans, a visual merchandising strategy and a marketing strategy for the labels.
The winning team from each category may have their collection produced by the labels.
