MELBOURNE: Boutique footwear brand tom gunn has secured an exclusive distribution deal with national retailer Saba.

The label will release seven designs from its autumn/winter 2010 collection through Saba stores in Melbourne and Sydney from next month.

While the designs will also retail in tom gunn stockists nationally, Saba has locked in an exclusive colour palette to compliment its apparel offering for the season.

Colours exclusive to Saba include ruby, ink, chocolate, nude and black with python skins, Italian nappa, kid and patent leathers featured throughout the collection. Heels dominate the offering, while flats and boots have also been included.

Saba approached the label after it was profiled in a footwear report by trend forecasting agency WGSN. WGSN reporter and shoe blogger Matt Jordan selected tom gunn as one of the top three young shoe brands in Australia.

tom gunn spokesperson Alice Moore said founders Shannon Gunn and Gabrielle Thompson then met with Saba in July 2009, months after sampling for the autumn/winter 2010 range had been completed.

“So it was decided an [exclusive] colour palette was the best way to go in terms of a range for Saba.”

The collection will retail from $499 to $899. It follows on from the release of ToyWatch and Rebecca Minkoff accessories through Saba in 2008.

tom gunn was launched just two years ago, specialising in luxury, Italian made footwear for women. Stockists include Jean Brown (QLD), Stella + Myrrh (VIC), Soletta (WA) and Ibis Fashion (NSW).
