PERTH: Iconic womenswear designer Liz Davenport has set her sights on five new product categories as she celebrates 35 years of fashion in 2010.

Colour co-ordinated lingerie, sleepwear, swimwear and travel luggage are all on the cards for 2010/2011, with a homewares venture featuring co-ordinated lounge, bathroom and kitchen merchandise already in development.

Davenport, who started her career as a sales agent in 1972 before launching her own eponymous label three years later, currently has 11 stores nationwide and produces several seasonal womenswear lines.

“The next two years will be very exciting,” she said. “I feel greatly privileged to have had 35 successful years in the fashion business but there is still so much more to do.”

This includes potential retail ventures into New York and Hong Kong, along with two book releases advising women on dressing for special occasions and body type. Early in her career, Davenport gained notorioty for her 'four piece principle'; a concept based around using four garments in one colour to give the illusion of height and slimness.

More recently, Davenport gained nationwide media attention for her 'Miracle-in-a-Suitcase' concept, using 22 pieces to create 300 different looks. She has dressed Hollywood celebrities, royalty, judges, music artists and politicians throughout her career.
