MELBOURNE: Sportswear brand Lacoste is stretching its Australian Open marketing campaign off court.
The official outfit sponsor of the 2010 Australian Open will open a pop up store at Myer's Melbourne city site next week.
The store will sell official merchandise as well as Lacoste player on-court outfits, with items including the classic L1212 polo in a wide range of bright colours. Tees, shorts, caps and socks will also be on offer.
The 36 square metre retail space features high, white referee chairs displaying folded garments while tennis nets are used to effect throughout the store. Overhead court lighting fixtures cap off the tennis-themed design.
Lacoste sponsored players such as Andy Roddick and Jelena Dokic are expected to make in-store appearances throughout the tournament, which kicks off on January 18.
In addition to its off court store, which will close on February 7, Lacoste will also set up an inflatable tent at the event selling limited edition tees, caps and other official merchandise.
