LMFF launches into 2010
Designers Anna Plunkett and Luke Sales (left) joined Simone and Nicky Zimmermann (above) in celebrating the Sydney media launch of L’Oréal Melbourne Fashion Festival 2010. Surrounded by fashion installations from the likes of Alice McCall, LIFE with Bird, Gorman and Dhini, a crowd of powerful fashion editors and designers descended on Oxford Art Factory for the early evening affair. Festival director Karen Webster revealed the festival’s new marketing campaign, a series of black and white portraits featuring beaming models in structured silhouettes accented with ruffles, leather and feathers. The event will run from March 14 to 21, 2010.

FGI awards the best
Ten glowing letters illuminated guests as they milled around Centennial Parklands Restaurant (above) for the biennial Fashion Group International awards for excellence ceremony. With kaftan queen Camilla Franks, veteran ragtrader Vivian Chan Shaw (right) and designer Aurelio Costarella among those recognised for their achievements this year, it proved to be an apt backdrop for the evening. Project Runway mentor and event MC Henry Roth reminded guests “there’s no such thing as bad business, just bad dresses” as they took in a sumptuous three-course meal and later, a live jazz band.
