MELBOURNE: The recently retired chairman and chief executive of Hermes Sellier is preparing to land down under.
Christian Blanckaert will speak on the current state of luxury retail at the 2010 L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival Business Seminar. Blanckaert is the former executive vice president of Hermès International and was chairman and chief executive of Hermes Sellier from January 1996 to August 2009.
He was also a president of Comité Colbert, a French organisation which represents seventy luxury organisations, from 1988 to 1996. Questions Blanckaert will address at the seminar include 'Is luxury as we know it dead?' and 'What can we learn from the luxury world as a business model for other market tiers?'
The seminar will take place at Melbourne's Sofitel hotel on March 19, 2010. Additional industry speakers are expected to be announced soon.
