NATIONAL: The 11 up-and-coming Australian labels that have nabbed the opportunity to showcase their wares at G'Day USA have been revealed.

Nicolangela (VIC), Pizzuto (NSW) and Vanguard (QLD) are among the labels that will take part in the Australian Fashion Designer Showcase to be held in New York on January 20 – 21. The event, coordinated by Austrade, aims to grant designers the opportunity to showcase their garments to retail buyers and fashion media based in the US.

Other participating labels include Cylk (VIC), Amar (NSW), Be Seduced (NSW), Dana Mathers (WA), Katelyn Aslett (QLD), Luela (NSW), Natalie Chapmen (NSW) and Stand (WA).

Austrade’s New York-based senior trade commissioner Gerard Seeber said it is the fourth year the fashion showcase has been organised as part of the G'Day USA celebrations.

“Initiatives such as these help promote our talented Australian designers to succeed in the fashion capital of the world and build Australia’s global reputation in design, by showcasing their offerings,” Seeber said.

Fashion labels that have participated in the program in previous years include Metalicus, Saint Augustine Academy, Silence is Golden, Vivian Chan Shaw, Ae'lkemi and Urban Originals.

The G'Day USA: Australia Week 2010 program will run from January 9 to 29, with events to be staged in New York, Los Angeles, Palm Springs, San Diego and San Francisco. The annual event aims to promote trade between Australia and the US across sectors including art, fashion, hospitality and tourism.
