SYDNEY: Administrators called in to manage the collapse of the Australian School of Fashion have revealed more details about its sudden closure.

PPB Australia revealed in a letter to students that it had been appointed administrators of the school's owner, Global Campus Management/ The Meridian Group, as at November 5. The administrators said in the letter that all courses offered by the Australian School of Fashion would cease as of the same date.

The administrators revealed that discussions are currently under way with the Commonwealth departments of education and immigration with regard to the impact of the course closures on pre-paid tuition fees and student visas. Both departments will arrange to meet with all impacted students.

While the exact number of students affected by the closure is not known, Global Campus Management expected enrolments at Esmod - the former guise of the Australian School of Fashion - to reach 250 students by December 2009.

Global Campus Management/ The Meridian Group operates a total of four educational institutions in Australia. In addition to the Australian School of Fashion, it runs the International Design School, the Meridian International Hotel School, and The Meridian International School. All schools have been closed as a result of the administration. It is estimated a total of 2700 students have been affected.
