In an Australian Fashion Week special, ragtrader.com.au asks key buyers about trade, trends and what's on their agenda. Starting the week off is Net-A-Porter’s chief buying and merchandising officer, Brigitte Chartrand, who reveals the Aussie brands going strong on the luxury platform.
Which Australian brands have you added to your platform over the last year?
Most recently, we introduced Posse and Deiji Studios and they’ve been part of our offering for the past three to four seasons. Like many other Australian designers we stock at NET-A-PORTER, their aesthetic aligns perfectly with our customer - super feminine with a relaxed sensibility.
Which Australian brands are driving the most sales over the last year?
Zimmerman and St Agni.
Which runways or events are you most looking forward to this year?
We’re looking forward to seeing Aje, while also exploring some new brands.
What does Australian fashion offer that is different to the likes of Europe and the United States?
Australian fashion stands out for its naturally relaxed vibe, shaped by a more laid-back lifestyle. It feels easy and effortless – more casual than what is typically seen in Europe or the US, but still very pretty and feminine.
