In an Australian Fashion Week special, ragtrader.com.au asks key buyers about trade, trends and what's on their agenda. Next up is Ramya Giangola – buyer for global retailer Lane Crawford and accommodation chain Rosewood Hotels, and founder of Gogoluxe.

Which Australian designer brands do you stock?

Matteau, Alemais, LMND, Christopher Esber, Commas.

Which designers are you most looking forward to seeing at AFW this year?

Courtney Zheng, Esse, Paris Georgia, Matin, Aje, Beare Park.

Which market does your company trade in and what are the key local fashion trends there right now?

US, China, Mexico, Europe. The key fashion trend across the world I would say for luxury and new gen consumers is about embracing personal style and using interesting different novelty elements in accessories, print and color as a way to showcase your own aesthetic.

We are moving away from quiet luxury and a homogenous way of dressing to one that is more eclectic and personal. Consumers are also looking for brands that are different unique and have a clear perspective.

Has your buying strategies changed in recent months amid global economic challenges?

Our buying strategies have certainly been impacted by the global economic challenges. We have had very honest dialogue with all of our brand partners and we are working in tandem to find solutions that allow us to navigate these choppy waters as a team, rather than an us against them mindset.

We are also very conscious of the impact this instability is having on younger and emerging brands and we are doing our utmost to support them as they are most at risk for not being able to survive these extremely choppy waters.

What do you predict will be the next big fashion trend?

I think as the world is rapidly changing and we are all taking stock of the upheaval we are drawn to brands and creators who have a distinct point of view, a clear narrative and a unique product offer.

As we may be consuming less and spending less, if we do buy it has to be something very special, with very good quality and that transcends a specific season.
