The Campaign for Wool has unveiled a string of initiatives with some of Australia’s top retailers, fashion designers and tertiary institutions to celebrate Wool Week 2013.
Wool Week festivities will take centre stage at various shopping destinations across Australia from this week until May 5, with many dedicated in-store displays to also continue through to June 30.
A list of key activations follows:
- David Jones will present an installation of mannequins inspired by the winter season’s most fashionable designer pieces. A selection of wool garments by Australia’s top designers including Camilla and Marc will also carry the unique The Campaign for Wool swing tag.
- The Campaign for Wool and Country Road have collaborated to create a motion film to celebrate the tactility of wool. Released in high quality black and white, slow moving camera work captures detail of the weave and fabrication of the knits. The film demonstrates Country Road’s on-going support of wool and the Australian wool industry. The film will run in Country Road stores across Australia and on www.countryroad.com.au.
- Camilla and Marc will present a window display featuring a wool adaption of a giant X symbolising its 10th year anniversary and support of wool.
- Collette Dinnigan will feature an inviting display of wool in-store at her Sydney and Melbourne stores.
- Josh Goot will be highlighting the Campaign for Wool with window displays.
- Ellery has created boards of plaited wool top to be displayed behind mannequin’s in-store.
- Gorman will showcase a colourful in-store wool display titled ‘Godseye’. taking inspiration from the traditional yarn and spiritual object.
- Melbourne fashion retailer Obus is encouraging shoppers to hand in their old jumpers at any of their stores to receive 10 per cent off current knitwear. The old jumpers will be donated to local community-based charity organisation Brotherhood of St Laurence.
- Sabatini has created arty cut out cards of sheep on display at 15 stockists nationally.
- Menswear retailer M.J. Bale will honour wool with an exciting in-store display showing pieces from their autumn/winter 2013 collection.
- Kookai presents its ‘The Greatest Knits’ campaign in-store and online, featuring the brand's best collection pieces of the Winter season.
- Sambag is to help tell the story of wool with big creative in-store displays across all Australian stores.
- Decjuba has created a variety of wool inspired in-store displays alongside their latest fashion collection.
- Sheepskin boot brand Emu will show its support for The Campaign for Wool with in-store show cards.
This year for the first time The Campaign for Wool has also partnered with eight interiors brands. They include Fanuli, Orson & Blake, Designer Rugs, Kings Furniture, Workshopped, Great Dane and Supa Centa Moore Park.
Embracing an educational theme, and in collaboration with Australia’s most respected tertiary institutions, The Campaign for Wool will also present a Student Showcase of designs constructed with wool, highlighting some of the nation's top design talent.
As part of the initiative, The Campaign for Wool has donated metres of the finest Merino wool fabric and yarn as chosen by the students, with 25 one-off fashion pieces to be showcased at The Strand Arcade from May 1 until the end of June.
