Australian footwear chain Wittner shoes has introduced a new scan and go mobile application aimed at 'on the go' shoppers.

The family-run business, which has nearly 70 stores located in all states of Australia, is filtering QR codes into stores across the country, which allow customers to swipe their mobile phones over.

The new no-fuss shopping option allows customers to purchase shoes on the spot and after going through an online checkout the product is then shipped out to them.

A spokesman from Wittner said customers will no longer need to wait for their local store to open, or race down after work, as they can scan the codes through the shop window.

“Wittner understands how busy life can be, from pressing deadlines and early morning meetings, to the mad rush at the supermarket - so to accommodate this fast-paced lifestyle, Wittner has introduced the ability to scan and go in select Wittner store windows in busy shopping strips,” a spokesman said.

Wittner's Block Arcade store in Melbourne's Collins Street saw the first of the new QR codes installed and many of Wittner's Facebook fans have commented on the 'genius' idea.

“You can scan with your boyfriend next to you without going into the shop and they wouldn't be none the wiser – genius,” one fan commented.
