Fashion chain Witchery has entered into an exclusive partnership with the Whitehouse Institute of Design Australia to offer students the opportunity to contribute to one of the retailer's largest campaigns.

The fledgling initiative, dubbed the Witchery White Shirt Design Award, will be open only to second year fashion design students from the Whitehouse Institute of Design and will see entrants create a white shirt intended for the 2013 Witchery White Shirt Campaign.

Students will present their white shirt design, including illustrations showing the concept development, and the award will be judged by Witchery’s design team, with all entrants considered over a two phase process.

Ten finalists will then be chosen to create their white shirt, including pattern making, and executing a prototype that reflects the essence of Witchery’s design philosophy and the White Shirt campaign, which supports OCRF’s important research endeavours.

The winner will then receive a three month paid internship at Witchery in Melbourne, and trip to Paris to encourage further fashion inspiration.

Witchery CEO Iain Nairn said the initiative was created to strengthen the brand's association with the industry and its future talent, and inject new life into the campaign.

“Witchery is an iconic fashion retailer, with strong industry and community roots, and the Witchery White Shirt Design Award creates a new and exciting relationship with the next generation of Australian design talent. Both Witchery and Whitehouse Institute of Design Australia students will value and benefit from the dynamic exchange of ideas and insight embracing 'life changing fashion, fashion changing lives',” he said.

“Witchery is anticipating the talent that will shine through in the students’ white shirt designs, and we are eager to see the designs that Whitehouse’s students develop and present.”

The Whitehouse Institute of Design, Australia was founded in 1988 by Leanne Whitehouse. Recognised as one of Australia’s premier fashion educators, Whitehouse Institute of Design, Australia offers a Bachelor of Design with specialisations in Fashion Design, Interior Design and Styling and Creative Direction.
