Womenswear brand Witchery is supporting First Nations women through a continued partnership with Australian organisation Future Women for International Women’s Day 2023.

The partnership will see Witchery joining Future Women at its annual event in The Ivy Ballroom on Wednesday, March 8, alongside a panel of First Nations leaders.

On the panel will be University of Technology professor Larissa Behrendt, SBS director of Indigenous content Tanya Denning-Orman, actor, writer and comedian Nakkiah Lui, creative, film producer and storyteller Alison Page.

Future Women is a member-led organisation committed to achieving gender equality in Australian workplaces.

Witchery head of marketing Jennifer Petropoulos confirmed the partnership is in its fourth year.

“Witchery is committed to supporting women in their careers and, through our sophisticated and stylish collections, ultimately want them to feel unstoppable at work, at play and in life,” Petropoulos said.

“Bringing awareness to the important work Future Women are doing to support First Nations women is how we can support and promote positive change.

“We are excited to continue working with Future Women to build on the conversation around gender equality in the workplace, ensuring it becomes a reality in the very near future.”

Witchery said that 10% of all ticket sales will be donated to the Australian Indigenous Education Foundation.

Future Women founder and MD Helen McCabe said Australia’s First Nations women have been driving change for tens of thousands of years.

“As the referendum on a Voice to Parliament approaches, hearing from and championing First Nations women has never been more important,” McCabe said. “Our ongoing relationship with Witchery is based around a shared commitment to celebrating the achievements of First Nations women and doing the critical work of reconciliation.”

“Future Women is proud to host this kind of event for the fifth time now, passing the microphone to First Nations’ women on stage as well as working with incredible First Nations suppliers.

“This year, Future Women will also provide five First Nations women with fully funded places in our Platinum + Emerging Leader program in 2023, further supporting their work in helping move the conversation about reconciliation and gender equality forwards in this country.”

Witchery will also support Future Women’s NAIDOC Week event in July 2023, for the second year in a row.
