The Auckland fashion and sneaker community lined up overnight and endured the wet weather to experience the opening of the new Subtype store at Westfield Newmarket.
Fans of the high-end sneaker concept store were granted launch day release of the Yeezy Boost 350 V2 “Zebra”.
The first few weeks of trade will see special releases from Nike Quickstrike, Nike Air Jordan and Converse to follow on from the opening day launch from adidas Yeezy.
The launch of the new retail space in Auckland will include products from Common Projects, Drôle De Monsieur, Carhartt WIP, adidas Originals, ASICS and New Balance.
There will also be New Zealand exclusive brands including A-Cold-Wall, Ader Error, Warrior, Li-Ning, Salomon S/Lab, Sporty & Rich and Fear of God.
The fit out was inspired and influenced by the moving elements of water and designed by Noise Noise Noise and Blair Cooper.
Global fashion brands and exclusive ranges are displayed in a ‘sneaker gallery’ concept.
Full animation walls and dressing rooms are filled with optical illusions along with custom textures across almost every surface bring the blue water theme to life.
The fitting lounge is lined with a custom blue carpet and hosts dedicated sneaker side tables and plinths.
