Adidas is looking forward to the upcoming Australian Open where its new Primeblue x Heat.Rdy tennis collection will be worn by elite players on court.

The new collection has been designed specially for hot climates and also incorporates more recycled materials than ever before seen in an Adidas tennis range.

The full apparel range, including a sleeveless shirt, 2-in-1 shorts and a tennis dress, has been created with Primeblue, a material made in part with Parley Ocean Plastic – upcycled plastic waste which has been intercepted on remote islands, beaches, coastal communities and shorelines, preventing it from polluting the ocean.

The Primeblue material is complemented with Heat.Rdy – a lightweight fabric which maximizes airflow and keeps players feeling cool on the court, while wicking away sweat and moisture.

Inspired by the shades of the ocean, the collection features a colour palette of off-white, deep blues, greens and vibrant yellow.

The new collection will be worn by players including Garbiñe Muguruza, Angelique Kerber and Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Speaking on the collection, Tsitsipas said that it will help him remain focused during one of the hottest tournaments of the year.

"Tennis is a game that requires 110% focus and you can’t have any distractions, which becomes even more essential when you’re set to face one of the hottest tournaments of the season.

"As we prepare for the first challenge of the year, it’s important that I have the very best performance wear to combat both the heat and to help me perform at my very best," he said.

The apparel performance wear is complemented by updated footwear in the new ‘Solar Yellow’ colourway and will be worn by Tsitsipas and Angelique Kerber.

The Primeblue x Heat.Rdy tennis collection will be worn by elite players at the Australian Open from February 08 and is available online, via the Adidas app and in select retail stores including Chadstone and Emporium from January 13.

The range retails for between $80-$150.

The Australian Open will begin on February 08 2021.
