Shopping giant Westfield has debuted a new initiative to boost shopper engagement to new levels.

The company has trialled the use of Instagram to capture consumer attentions via Brisbane's first Instagram installation in a shopping centre.

The initiative, launched Westfield Garden City, invites shoppers to share snaps via Instagram of their favourite moments, experiences or things to do at Westfield Garden City with the hashtag #mygardencityis.

The competition launched this week and will run until April 6.

The top thirty pictures will then be selected for display on a large 25 metre wall in Westfield Garden City throughout the centre's redevelopment.

The shopper who posts the best image will also win a $1,000 Westfield Gift Card.

Commenting on the initiative, Westfield Regional Manager Stuart Elder said the company is trialling a fresh take on social media.

"We're excited to see what people come up with, and ultimately, what they love about the centre through their own images.

"We haven't seen this kind of Instagram wall done in a shopping centre before, and think it's a great way to engage with our shoppers and showcase the best of Westfield Garden City through the eyes of our community."

All entries will be reviewed by a panel of judges including Westfield Garden City's stylist Sara Hatten-Masterson and Elder.
