Australian online retailer VRG GRL has launched its latest artist collaboration with Byron Bay creative, Anjuna Hartlieb.
The limited-edition range is made up of ten pieces, featuring hand-painted artworks by Hartlieb exclusively for the collaboration.
The collaboration came after VRG GRL co-founder and creative director Natalia Suesskow discovered Anjuna’s work at a local gallery in the Northern Rivers.
“I discovered Anjuna at Yeah, Nice. Gallery in Byron Bay and was immediately drawn to her art,” Suesskow said.
“Anjuna’s unique designs, creativity and emotive approach to her craft was mesmerizing and it was here that I purchased one of her paintings and fell in love with her work.
“After this visit, I knew we had to work together to develop a range for VRG GRL that encapsulated the same feeling I experienced when discovering Anjuna for the first time.”
According to Anjuna Hartlieb, the collection is inspired by all forms of life on Earth, bringing bold colours to the forefront and using symbolism to convey meaning in a playful way.
“When creating the artwork for this collaboration, I wanted to do a floral print with my spin on it, giving the flowers their own personality, making it almost otherworldly.
“I’m forever inspired by other artists, creators and life on this earth! The animals and plants, our connections to them, and their impact on us.”
The collection will launch exclusively via the VRG GRL app on July 19 and online on July 20, 2022 and will be available as a limited-run.
It follows the brand's commitment to reducing its contribution to pre- and post-consumer waste.
“Earlier this year, we made the decision to transition to an in-house business model; focusing solely on designing and bringing customers the most coveted VRG GRL styles that are considered, created with purpose and designed to last,” Suesskow said.
“The VRG GRL x Anjuna collection is that and more.”
