The Australian retail industry has honoured both established brands and new-comers at its annual National Retail Awards ceremony in Melbourne.

With long-standing retailer Target taking out the Innovation Champion of the Year and Young Retailer of the Year going to Nick Pearce of HoMie, as well as awards going to Boost Juice, new brand Simply for Strings, and St Frock, the night showcased a wide range of businesses from all over the country.

NRA CEO Dominique Lamb said the strong field of competitors for the awards showed the depth of talent in Australian retail and the number of people striving constantly to offer their customers the best possible shopping experience.

“We’ve seen an exceptional display of talent at the awards tonight, ranging from our Young Retailer of the Year Nick Pearce through to our Lifetime Achiever Mary Booth, and every award winner in every category.

“What it shows is that retail offers opportunities for everyone. We’ve had winners tonight who are just starting out in business, and those who have devoted their lives to the industry.

“Retail is one of Australia’s largest employers, and increasingly is offering life-long career options for young Australians.”

Vinnies, Perfect Potion, Freedom and Peregrine Corporation also received recognition.
