Tory Burch is profiling women across the world who are making a difference in their local communities. Australian youth climate activist and advocate, Varsha Yajman is one of those being profiled. Here she reflects on her actions around climate change.

Being part of the fight for climate justice has been about acknowledging how privileged I am, and using this privilege to support those on the front lines… to feel empowered to take action.

Many of us are privileged enough to ignore the effects of climate change to a certain degree.

Being a teenager, I believe it is my duty to fight for justice.

Seeing people around me change their opinion on climate justice has been the most rewarding part of the fight.

Being a woman of colour, the fight for climate justice has a special place in my heart because people of colour — and more specifically women of colour — are more likely to be affected by climate change.

[But] I still would not call myself an activist.

I feel that it is my duty as a human being to help take care of the Earth that I have taken so much from.

In Australia, we have seen little to no government action on climate change.

Even today, people ignore the urgency of the issue.
