Vans is looking to take a share of the Sydney streetwear market with the opening of its first retail store in the capital city.
The youth footwear and apparel label, managed in Australia by the Accent Group, will open its first retail store beyond Melbourne's borders this October. Sydney's George Street has been selected as the destined retail destination, with Vans to take a lease in The Galeries complex.
Accent Group general manager Daniel Agostinelli said the new store will carry Vans footwear lines such as skate lifestyle and men's and women's core classics, as well a wide range of Vans apparel.
“The idea behind our Vans concept stores is to showcase the entirety of the brand's product lines, and also allows consumers to further connect with the Vans brand and its action sports culture and history,” Agostinelli said.
The Sydney store will add to existing Vans sites in Melbourne Central and Chadstone shopping centres. Accent Group also wholesales the label to retailers including Platypus Shoes, Hype DC, Waves and City Beach, along with a wealth of independents.
In addition to the Vans label, Accent Group manages the local distribution for Skechers, Dr. Martens, Palladium and Replay.
