Circular fashion label Upparel (formerly Manrags) has partnered with Save the Children Australia, to help streamline the apparel donation process.

The partnership will see Upparel collect 10kg of pre-loved clothing, linen and shoes from consumers' homes, with reusable items passed onto Save the Children.

Save the Children will then sell the items in their stores, generating funds for programs which support vulnerable children across the world.

Anything that can't be sold will be taken by Upparel to be recycled and regenerated.

Upparel CEO and co-founder Michael Elias said that the business is thrilled to partner with Save the Children.

"We are very excited with our unique partnership with Save the Children.

"Not only is this the first time for a purpose for profit organisation introducing a digital solution to customers but also demonstrating commitment and stepping up to end unnecessary textile waste and its environmental impacts," he said.

Save the Children is one of Australia’s largest aid and development agencies, supporting some of the most vulnerable children and young people around the world.

In 2019 Save the Children reached more than 33,000 children and adults across 199 communities in Australia with education,
early learning and other support.

Save the Children national retail marketing manager Laura Prochowski added that the partnership delivers positive outcomes for children and the environment.

"The partnership is a win for kids and a win for the planet.

"We believe the way forward is circular, which is why we’ve partnered with Upparel to ensure we’re leading the way in delivering a sustainable solution that reduces the amount of clothing going to landfill each year," she said.

The partnership began on 09 November, the start of National Recycling Week.
